Subject: | Lance Corporal Michael L. Freeman, Jr., Memorial Highway |
In the near future, I plan to introduce legislation that will designate a portion of State Route 1001 in Greene Township, Franklin County, as the Lance Corporal Michael L. Freeman, Jr., Memorial Highway. Lance Corporal Michael L. Freeman, Jr., of Fayetteville was a 2008 graduate of Chambersburg Area High School. Shortly thereafter, in August of 2008, Lance Corporal Freeman began his service with the Marine Corps. Lance Corporal Freeman honorably served his country as a machine gunner with the 2nd Battalion, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force in Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. Sadly, on February 1, 2010, Lance Corporal Freeman died while supporting combat operations in Helmand Province, Afghanistan. Lance Corporal Freeman was awarded the Purple Heart, the Combat Action Ribbon and the Afghanistan Campaign Medal. I ask for your support and invite you to join me in co-sponsoring this legislation honoring an outstanding individual who gave his life in defense of our Commonwealth and nation by designating a section of State Route 1001 in his name. |
