Subject: Co-Sponsorship: Prohibiting Straight Pipe Exhaust Systems on Motorcycles
 
In the near future, I intend to introduce legislation amending Title 75 (Vehicles) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes to prohibit straight pipe exhaust systems on motorcycles.

My proposal prohibits the operation of a motorcycle with a straight-through exhaust system that does not contain baffles or does not meet current muffler requirements. Persons found in violation of this prohibition will be subject to a fine of not less than $250 for the first offense and not less than $500 for second and subsequent offenses.

I have received an overwhelming amount of complaints regarding excessive motorcycle noise. As such, I hope you will join me in prohibiting these after-market exhaust systems.
