Subject: Child with Autism Specialty License Plate

In the near future, I plan to introduce legislation which will create a new specialty license plate for children with autism.

The purpose of this specialty plate is to alert police officers and first responders that there may be a child with autism in the vehicle. Autistic children may have an exaggerated reaction when faced with an unfamiliar situation. This would allow the police and first responders to approach the vehicle with care and take into consideration the child’s behavior during the interaction.

In addition, there will be a provision that the plate will expire one month before the child’s 18th birthday. This is to ensure the privacy of the child once they reach adulthood.

Please join me in sponsoring this important legislation.
