House of Representatives
Session of 2017 - 2018 Regular Session

MEMORANDUM

Posted: March 21, 2017 10:54 AM
From: Representative James R. Roebuck, Jr. and Rep. Kristin Hill
To: All House members
Subject: Advanced Placement Articulation

In the near future, we will be introducing legislation that passed the House last session to expand on the Transfer and Articulation Program to include credits for matriculating freshmen who have taken Advanced Placement (AP) exams in high school with scores that qualify them for college course credits. This legislation will ensure that high school students who have taken Advanced Placement courses and obtained a score of 3 or more on the AP exam will receive college course credit from Pennsylvania public institutions of higher education.

This legislation will also include those students in an International Baccalaureate, College-Level Examination Program and DANTES subject standardized tests.

Through this program college students and parents will have some alleviation of financial burden on college tuition by eliminating the need to pay for duplicate courses.

The awarding of these credits will save student and their families thousands of dollars in college tuition costs and lead more students to graduate from college in four years.

Thank you in advance for your support.
