MEMORANDUM

Posted: March 10, 2017 09:55 AM
From: Representative Rob W. Kauffman
To: All House members
Subject: Private First Class Dana Edward Diehl Bridge Naming

In the near future, I plan to introduce legislation that will designate a bridge on a portion of State Route 533 over Muddy Run in Southampton Township, Franklin County, as the Private First Class Dana Edward Diehl Memorial Bridge.

Dana Diehl was a native of Shippensburg and lived most of his life just a few miles from the bridge over Muddy Run. He often crossed over the bridge during his travels, spent many hours fishing with his father along Muddy Run and cooled off in the stream with his family during hot summer days.

Private First Class Diehl honorably served his country as a medical specialist with the 25th Infantry Division, 3rd Squadron, 4th Cavalry, Headquarters Troop. Sadly, on December 10, 1968, in Hau Nghia Province, South Vietnam, Private First Class Diehl was killed when the vehicle in which he was riding was struck by an explosive device.

I ask for your support and invite you to join me in co-sponsoring this legislation honoring an outstanding individual who gave his life in defense of our Commonwealth and nation by designating a section of State Route 1008 in his name.

Introduced as HB1017
