MEMORANDUM

Posted: March 8, 2017 03:42 PM
From: Representative Mark K. Keller
To: All House members
Subject: Organized Motorcycle Processions

In the near future I will be introducing legislation that affords organized motorcycle processions many of the same rights that funeral processions currently receive. As an avid motorcycle rider I have noticed there is a growing issue with those motorcyclists who participate in large group ‘Rides’. What my legislation will do is bring these ‘Rides’ into compliance with the Vehicle Code (Title 75) by ensuring that they:
  • may proceed through a red light or stop sign as a group;
  • are authorized to control and direct traffic as the ‘Ride’ passes through an intersection;
  • are specifically listed among those groups exempt from ‘following too closely’;
  • are required to use visual signals such as a lead and trailing vehicle equipped with flashing yellow lights, lighted head lamps, and emergency flashers;
  • cannot be targeted in motorcycle only checkpoints
I hope you will join me in co-sponsoring this legislation
