MEMORANDUM

To: All House members
Subject: Resolution urging protection for our Electric Grid

I am introducing a resolution urging our federal government partners to provide for the protection and fortification of our electric grid.

As you know, our electric grid provides the lifeblood for nearly every aspect of our lives. Our national defense, communications, economic and financial institutions, hospitals, law enforcement, as well as countless other critical operations and infrastructures depend upon our electric grid, yet the federal government has not adequately prepared for its security.

And unfortunately, a disruption to the electric grid from an electromagnetic pulse (EMP), cyber-attack, or similar threat, natural or manmade, would most likely endanger these fundamental components of American society.

Accordingly, the protection of the electric grid is essential to both the security and continued prosperity of the Commonwealth and the United States. Therefore, I would appreciate your support by cosponsoring this resolution. Thank you.

This is a reintroduction of former HR 245. Previous cosponsors include; BAKER, CUTLER, D. COSTA, ELLIS, FARINA, GILLEN, LONGIETTI, , MAHONEY, McNEILL, MILNE, MURT, READSHAW and SANKEY.
