| Subject: | Resolution Urging Congress to Keep Certain Parts of the Affordable Care Act |
| In the near future, I will be introducing a resolution that urges the United States Congress to consider keeping the most important provisions of the Affordable Care and Patient Protection Act when executing their impending repeal of this law. The provisions I urge Congress to retain are as follows; the elimination of annual and lifetime limits on the payment of medical benefits, guaranteed coverage for those individuals with pre-existing conditions, coverage of young adults on their parents insurance until the age of 26, and coverage of ancillary procedures for those individuals who qualify to participate in cancer clinical trials. As we may not agree on the merits of the Affordable Care Act, we can certainly agree on the virtue of protecting the most vulnerable members of our society. The person denied coverage due to a previous battle with cancer might be your neighbor. The diabetes sufferer who reaches their annual limit on medical benefits might be your aunt or uncle. The recent college grad who has no health coverage and is struggling to find a job might be your son or daughter. The participant in the cancer clinical trial might be you. It is imperative that we, in a bipartisan manner, tell Congress we will not stand by as they endeavor to roll back these vital protections. It is equally imperative we demonstrate to our constituents that we value their health and wellbeing. I respectfully ask for your support. |
