Subject: Co-Sponsorship: Regulating Propane Tanks on Mobile Food Vehicles

In the near future, I will be introducing legislation that will provide for regulating propane tanks on mobile food vehicles.

As you may know, at least two people have died in Philadelphia as a result of injuries sustained when a propane tank on a mobile food vehicle exploded in Philadelphia. After this tragic event, I learned that while three state agencies have some oversight of mobile food vehicles, no agency is specifically responsible for inspecting propane tanks on these vehicles. With that said, I believe we must do all we can to prevent additional incidents like the ones that occurred in Philadelphia from ever happening again.

Specifically, my legislation will provide for various propane-related safety measures, including a requirement that propane tanks on mobile food vehicles be inspected by propane professionals and a requirement that employees on these vehicles be properly trained in the use of propane tanks.

It is with the safety of the residents of our great Commonwealth in mind that I offer this legislation. As such, I hope you will consider signing on as a co-sponsor of this important measure. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact my office at (717) 787-3480.
