Subject:	Delinquent Obligors (Former HB 767)

I am re-introducing legislation which enhances the accountability of parents who purposefully fail to pay child support. Currently, under the Domestic Relations Code, a county may, through its domestic relations section, publish in the newspaper the names of delinquent support obligors who are in arrears at least 30 days. My legislation provides that every county shall publish the names, photographs and amount of arrearages of delinquent support obligors who are in arrears for at least a year. Publication would take place in newspapers twice a year, in January and June.
