Subject: Honoring the Life and Legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
 
On behalf of the Pennsylvania Legislative Black Caucus (PLBC), I intend to introduce a resolution honoring the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Each year on the third Monday of January, people across our diverse country engage in civic, community, and service projects in observation of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. During this celebratory time, we are reminded of this iconic figure who preached the unalienable rights of all people to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

As legislators, it is our duty to represent all Pennsylvanians in the cause of social, racial, economic, and environmental justice. In doing so we must heed Dr. King’s legacy and his commitment to the creation of “the beloved community.” Therefore, please join me and my colleagues in the PLBC in honoring Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
