MEMORANDUM

Posted: October 19, 2016 01:26 PM
From: Representative Steven C. Mentzer
To: All House members
Subject: Resolution - October as "Check Your Health Insurance Coverage Month" in Pennsylvania.

In the near future, I intend to introduce a resolution designating the month of October, as "Check Your Health Insurance Coverage Month" in Pennsylvania.

As you may know, consumers can enroll in a new health insurance plan or renew their existing commercial health plans typically beginning in October or November.

Consumers often choose their health plans based on whether their provider is in-network, coverage of a particular prescription and cost-sharing. Consumers expect to have access to the providers, services and medications that meet their individual medical needs throughout the plan year. Ensuring that a plan meets a patient’s medical needs is particularly important for patients with certain chronic conditions. Many patients with chronic conditions have been through years of trial-and-error with their physician to find the therapy that is the most effective for them, with the least amount of side effects.

I hope you will join me in cosponsoring this resolution recognizing the importance of promoting health plan coverage that meets each patient’s needs.
