Subject: | Co-sponsor Memo- Hemophilia Standards of Care Act |
In the near future, I plan to introduce legislation which would require insurers to provide benefits and health care services to individuals with severe bleeding disorders. Hemophilia is a rare genetic disorder that impairs an individual’s ability to control bleeding and affects at least 1,700 individuals in this Commonwealth. Individuals suffering from Hemophilia must undergo expensive intravenous injections of blood clotting factors to control the disorder. My legislation would establish the Hemophilia Standards of Care Act which would provide the appropriate standard of care for individuals in this Commonwealth suffering from this chronic incurable disease by requiring insurers to provide access and coverage for Hemophilia treatment and care. I hope you will join me in cosponsoring this important piece of legislation. |
Introduced as HB2364
