Subject: Resolution - Designating September 2016 as "Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome Awareness Month" in Pennsylvania

In the near future, I plan on introducing a resolution recognizing September 2016 as “Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome Awareness Month” in Pennsylvania.

Polycystic ovarian syndrome is a hormonal disorder that affects as many as five million women in the United States. This disease can cause irregular ovulation or even infertility and makes women more susceptible to serious conditions such as heart disease and diabetes. While the cause of polycystic ovarian syndrome is unknown, most experts believe that several factors, including genetics, could play a role.

There is no known cure for polycystic ovarian syndrome. However, experts suggest that by making small changes to diet and lifestyle, such as increasing exercise, women can better manage their symptoms and improve their chances of becoming pregnant.

Please consider joining me in helping to raise awareness of this disease and support women with polycystic ovarian syndrome by recognizing September 2016 as “Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome Awareness Month” in Pennsylvania.
