Subject: Resolution designating August 2016 as Produce Month in Pennsylvania.
 
In the near future I will be introducing a Resolution designating August 2016 as Produce Month in Pennsylvania.

Pennsylvania’s fruit and vegetable industry contributes approximately many millions of dollars a year towards the economy. Many of the state’s farms and orchards sell their products at local farmer markets or have contracts to be sold in local grocery stores. The ability to have local fruits and vegetables readily available benefits not only the health of the local economies but the public health as well, as they are part of a balanced diet and provide many nutritional benefits.
Please join me in sponsoring this resolution to highlight the importance of the vegetable industry in Pennsylvania
