Subject: Providing for Texas Hold'em card tournaments
 
Please join me in cosponsoring a bill I worked on with Speaker McCall in the 2009-2010 session that addresses the fundraising needs of Volunteer Fire Departments.

This bill provides for two Texas Hold’em Card Tournaments annually for the benefit of Volunteer Fire Companies. The bill will ease the burden on young volunteers that join to fight fires, and are
immediately put to work on boot drives.

As we continue to expand gaming, some of the benefit of the expansion should help the volunteer fireman risking life and limb. Please join me in supporting this long overdue bill that supports volunteer organizations that provide over 6 billion dollars in tax benefits to the Commonwealth.
