MEMORANDUM

Posted: June 10, 2016 10:48 AM
From: Representative William C. Kortz, II
To: All House members
Subject: Resolution Commemorating the 60th Anniversary of the Federal Interstate Highway System

In the near future, I will be introducing a resolution recognizing the 60th Anniversary of the Federal Interstate Highway System. Our interstate road system is and has been essential to America's prosperity and way of life for over six decades.

Since its beginning on June 29, 1956, under the leadership of Dwight D. Eisenhower, the interstate network has provided a vital link for connecting goods to markets here and around the world and bringing together people from our nation's cities, towns and rural communities.

This 60-year milestone is an opportunity to celebrate the Federal Interstate Highway System's contribution to our economic strength and to recognize the men and women whose leadership and hard work created it. It will also allow us to rededicate ourselves to ensure that it remains strong, safe and efficient for the future.

Those of us in the present generation of elected officials should continue in the legacy of the Federal Interstate Highway System as it continues to serve America for decades to come.

I hope you will join me in supporting this important resolution.
