Subject: Community Hospital Emergency Drug and Alcohol Detoxification
 
In the near future I plan to introduce legislation aimed at providing emergency drug and alcohol detoxification in our existing community hospitals.

My bill will encourage existing health care facilities to convert beds to provide medically supervised detoxification and create a staging area for people who are in need of developing a high quality treatment program who may still be in search of an available bed.

It’s time we started treating the drug epidemic as the public health crisis that it is.
