| Subject: | DJ Farrar Week in Pennsylvania |
| In the near future, I plan to introduce a resolution designating the week of July 3, 2016 as DJ Farrar Week in Pennsylvania. The purpose of this resolution is to honor the memory of DJ, who had a tremendous positive effect on the Montgomery Township Baseball & Softball Association baseball program in his short lifetime. DJ was a courageous participant in the recreational and travel baseball programs from T-ball through the AAA program. Sadly, DJ’s life was cut short on January 15, 2003 after a 2-year struggle with brain cancer. In his memory, the Montgomery Township Baseball & Softball Association created the DJ Farrar Memorial Tournament to honor the wonderful traits that DJ exemplified throughout his lifetime – Sportsmanship, Effort, and Attitude toward the sport of baseball and life. From July 6th to July 10th, 2016, Montgomery Township Baseball & Softball Association will host the 14th Annual DJ Farrar Memorial Tournament. Since its inception, the tournament has raised approximately $25,000 for the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia Oncology Ward and Project DJ, an organization created by DJ’s family that makes blankets and quilts for pediatric cancer patients. Please join me in cosponsoring this resolution. |
