| Subject: | Restoring Funding to Mobile Science and Math Education Programs |
| In the near future I will be introducing legislation that will restore the more than $2 million in funding for the Mobile Science and Math Education Programs that were cut by Governor Wolf in his line-item veto of House Bill 1460 (Act 10A of 2015). Prior to the governor’s veto, House Bill 1460 provided a $250,000 increase to establish a total of $2.1 million in funding for Mobile Science and Math Education programs. This appropriation funds the popular Science in Motion (SIM) program, which is a shared-resources partnership between the Commonwealth and colleges and universities in Pennsylvania. Eleven college and universities, located in various regions of the state, participate to provide various school districts exposure to different scientific equipment and labs that they otherwise would not have access to. It is imperative to have a program such as Science in Motion to provide a comprehensive hands on approach in the classroom. Please join me in sponsoring this legislation to restore funding for a program that prepares Pennsylvania’s students for today’s modern technological careers. |
