MEMORANDUM

Subject: Veteran's Entrepreneurial Training & Support Act (VETS)

the near future, I plan on introducing legislation that would create the Veteran’s Entrepreneurial Training and Support Act.

This program, working in consultation with the Department of Military and Veteran Affairs, would be tasked with providing small business and entrepreneurial focused services to veterans and reservists. The overall goal of the program is to assist veterans and reservists in obtaining the necessary skills to create, manage and operate a small business.

It is critical that we pursue policies that stimulate the economy, move businesses forward and create jobs even in the midst of difficult fiscal times. While re-entering the workforce is a major obstacle for veterans, the state does have PA CareerLink, with priority given to veterans and the Disabled Veterans Outreach Program (DVOP), to assist in transitioning.

However, (VETS) would be designed to specifically help our veterans build businesses...the "Backbone of America's" economy.

As we approach Veteran's Day, please join me in co-sponsoring this important legislation to help those who have sacrificed so much for us.
