Subject: Local Property Tax & Rent Rebates
 
In the near future I will be introducing legislation that will allow school districts to provide local property tax and rent rebates.

Right now, there are several school districts that offer a local property tax rent rebate based on an individual’s qualification status for the statewide property tax rent rebate however, there is no specific authorizing language that permits a school district to do this.

My legislation will simply authorize a school district to implement these local rebates. Additionally, my language will prohibit property tax increases and the use of state funds to pay for local rebates.
