Subject: Hold Tenant Responsible for Unpaid Water/Sewer Bills
 
In the near future, I plan to introduce legislation that would alleviate a landlord’s responsibility of paying unpaid water/sewer utility bills by requiring the tenant to pay.

This legislation, which mirrors SB 625, would require a tenant to pay their water/sewer bill, given the water service is provided by a separate meter and/or service line to a residential building in which the owner of that building does not reside and the utility bill is in the tenant’s name.

Please consider co-sponsoring this legislation to make tenants responsible for paying the bill of service, which they are utilizing.
