Subject: Recognizing the month of May 2015 as "Healthy Babies Month" in Pennsylvania
 
I will be introducing a resolution designating May 2015 as “Healthy Babies Month” in Pennsylvania.

The March of Dimes Birth Defects Foundation recognizes May 2015 as “Healthy Babies Month” to educate men and women about the importance of preconception and prenatal care, nutrition and a healthy lifestyle in order to enhance positive birth outcomes. Preconception care, in addition to early regular prenatal care, is a pregnant woman’s first line of defense for protecting her baby. If problems arise, the earlier they are detected, the more likely they are to respond to treatment.

Please join me in recognizing May 2015 as Healthy Babies Month in PA and encouraging men and women of childbearing age to prepare themselves both before and during pregnancy to birth healthy babies.
