| Subject: | Subpoena Power for all Standing Committees |
| In the near future I will be introducing a resolution to issue subpoena power to all standing Committees in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives. As you know, under Rule 45 the Appropriations Chair has the power to issue subpoenas. My legislation would extend this power to all Committee Chairs to investigate waste, fraud and abuse in public bodies and public contracts. In essence, this subpoena power would track with the protections of Pennsylvania’s Whistleblower Law. Similar to other subpoenas issued by the House, any person who willfully neglects or refuses to testify before the committee will be subject to the penalties provided by the laws of the Commonwealth.
