Subject: | Resolution Recognizing the Month of November 2015, as “National Epilepsy Awareness Month” in Pennsylvania |
In the near future, we intend to introduce a resolution designating November 2015, as “National Epilepsy Awareness Month” in Pennsylvania. Epilepsy is a neurological condition sometimes referred to as a seizure disorder and is characterized by recurring seizures. According to the Epilepsy Foundation Western/Central Pennsylvania, epilepsy affects 5 million families across the United States with 200,000 new cases of epilepsy occurring each year. In 70% of cases, the cause of epilepsy is unknown. Head trauma, infections or a neurological disorder can be involved. Sometimes, heredity also plays a role. The Epilepsy Foundation in Pennsylvania, in partnership with the Department of Health, has been serving the needs of Pennsylvanians who live with epilepsy since 1994. This partnership leads in the fight to stop seizures, find a cure, and overcome the challenges created by epilepsy. Please consider joining us in helping with prevention and control of epilepsy, and raising awareness throughout the Commonwealth by designating November 2015 as “National Epilepsy Awareness Month” in Pennsylvania. |
