Subject: | Co-Sponsorship: Legislation Adding Motorcycles to the Automobile Lemon Law |
In the near future, I plan to introduce legislation that would add motorcycles to the protections provided by the Automobile Lemon Law. Presently, the Automobile Lemon Law, 1984 Act 28, applies only to the purchase or lease of a defective new motor vehicle. My legislation would change the definition of “new motor vehicle” to include motorcycles. The purchase of a new motorcycle involves a significant investment on the part of the consumer. The cost of a new motorcycle could equal or exceed the purchase price of a new automobile. Some constituents use a motorcycle as their primary, or in some instances, sole means of transportation. Pennsylvania consumers who purchase a motorcycle should be afforded the same protections under the lemon law as is currently extended to consumers who purchase or lease a new car. I ask that you please join me in co-sponsoring this legislation. |
