Subject: Resolution Recognizing the “Bob Pantano Saturday Night Dance Party” Radio Program

In the near future, I plan to introduce a resolution that recognizes the “Bob Pantano Saturday Night Dance Party” radio program for being the first and longest-running radio dance party in the nation.

The “Bob Pantano Saturday Night Dance Party” radio program first premiered in 1977, and features music from the 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s. This successful live broadcast airs every Saturday night on 98.1 WOGL-FM in Philadelphia, 96.1 WTTH-FM in Atlantic County, and 93.1 EZ-FM in Cape May County. Known as the first and longest-running radio dance party in the nation, the “Bob Pantano Saturday Night Dance Party” will be celebrating its 38th anniversary on February 28, 2015.

The “Bob Pantano Saturday Night Dance Party” is hosted by well-known radio icon, Bob Pantano. A native of South Philadelphia and a graduate of Temple University, Mr. Pantano has hosted this radio program since its inception. For his work on the “Bob Pantano Saturday Night Dance Party”, Mr. Pantano has received multiple accolades such as the 2002 Kal Rudman Philadelphia Radio Milestone Award, the 2002 Millay Club’s Man of the Year Award, an induction into the Temple University School of Communications and Theater Hall of Fame, a sidewalk plaque on the Wildwood Avenue of the Stars in New Jersey, an induction into the Broadcast Pioneers Hall of Fame, recognition by the Philadelphia City Council, and the Philadelphia Phillies Gamble & Huff Community Partnership Award.

Please join me in recognizing the “Bob Pantano Saturday Night Dance Party” radio program for being the first and longest-running radio dance party in the nation.
