MEMORANDUM

Posted: January 7, 2015 02:57 PM
From: Representative Tina M. Davis
To: All House members
Subject: Co-Sponsorship Request – Display of POW/MIA Flag

In the near future, I plan to reintroduce House Bill 852 of the 2013-2014 Legislative Session, which will provide for the proper display of the POW/MIA flag from public buildings.

More than 83,000 Americans are missing from World War II, the Korean War, the Cold War, the Vietnam War, and the 1991 Gulf War. As citizens of the United States, we must recognize the sacrifices made by these men, women, and their families to protect our freedom. The display of the POW/MIA flag is a symbol of our gratitude to these honorable men and women, which is why I believe that we should require the display of this flag from Pennsylvania’s public buildings.

Currently, POW/MIA flags may be displayed from the flagpole of public buildings; however, this display is not required. My legislation would require the POW/MIA flag be displayed at the following public buildings: county courthouses, Department of Military and Veterans Affairs buildings, other large State office buildings as determined by the Governor, and the State Capitol.

Join me in honoring the brave men and women who heroically served our Commonwealth and our country by co-sponsoring this important legislation.
