Subject: | Legislation to Establish Adopt-A-River Program |
In the near future I will reintroduce HB 59, which will establish the “Adopt-A-River” program within the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources. The program will function similar to PennDOT’s Adopt-A-Highway Program. I believe that this legislation will help restore Pennsylvania’s rivers, spark an interest in volunteerism in our state and help conserve natural resources at a limited cost to citizens of the Commonwealth. Each individual or group that volunteers will be assigned a specific river or stream segment of their choice, if possible, and will be responsible for removing litter from the river. The following members co-sponsored HB 59 in the 2015-16 Session: SCHLOSSBERG, NEILSON, HAGGERTY, HARHAI , CARROLL , B.
