MEMORANDUM

Posted: December 9, 2014 11:41 AM
From: Representative John D. Payne
To: All House members
Subject: Ceertified Fire Protection Specialist - former HB 1909 of 2013-14 Session

I plan to re-introduce HB 1909 from the 2013-14 Session that would amend Title 35 (Health and Safety), Chapter 73 to add Subchapter C.1 regarding Certified Fire Protection Specialists misrepresentation. The new language would state than an individual who is not duly certified as a fire protection specialist by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) may not hold themselves as a certified fire protection specialist with the intent to deceive another person. The Office of the State Fire Commissioner has agreed to obtain and maintain a current list of certified fire protection specialists as provided by the NFPA. A person who violates this subsection shall, upon conviction, pay a fine of not more than $250 for the first offense and for the second or subsequent offense, pay a fine of not more than $1,000 or imprisonment for not more than 6 months, or both.

Introduced as HB56
