MEMORANDUM

Posted: December 10, 2012 03:39 PM
From: Representative Neal P. Goodman
To: All House members
Subject: Ban on Political Robocalls

In the near future I will be introducing legislation to offer an opt-out provision for those who prefer not to receive political robocalls.

The recently completed election has once again drawn attention to the proliferation of these pre-recorded campaign messages. As indicated by feedback from my constituents, nothing is more annoying than coming home from a hard day’s work to find your voice mail full of robocalls, which appear to be on the increase subsequent to the Citizens United court ruling.

My bill will allow people to opt out of political robocalls, similar to the Do Not Call list currently provided for telemarketing advertisements.

Please join me in sponsoring this legislation. Thank you.

Introduced as HB419
