MEMORANDUM

Posted: September 10, 2014 04:07 PM
From: Representative Thomas P. Murt
To: All House members
Subject: Resolution Directing the LBFC to Study the Impact of the Reduction in Funding for Community Mental Health Services

Within the next several days, I plan to introduce a House Resolution authorizing and directing the Legislative Budget and Finance Committee to undertake a study of the impact on the citizens of Pennsylvania of the reduction in funding for community mental health services that has occurred in the last few years.

Many of us have received calls and letters from our constituents, expressing their frustrations with the long waiting lists for mental health services, and asking for our help on behalf of their family members. While our county mental health agencies and their contracted providers try to stretch the dollars we have been able to make available to them as far as they can, we need to know if the resources available to these agencies are sufficient to ensure access to needed services when Pennsylvania families need them.
