| Subject: | Resolution to Implore the President of the U.S. to Intervene and Secure the Release of U.S. Marine Andrew Tahmooressi from a Mexican Prison |
| In the near future, I will be introducing a resolution to implore the President of the United States to intervene and secure the immediate release of United States Marine Andrew Tahmooressi from a Mexican Prison. Sgt. Tahmooressi was arrested on March 31, 2014 after accidently crossing the Mexican border with 3 legally registered guns in his truck. He was arrested as he attempted to make a U-Turn, to correct his driving error, and he currently sits in a Mexican prison where it is reported that he suffers from physical abuse by his jailors and has been diagnosed with PTSD. A current citizen’s petition to the President of the United States, which requests the administration to directly intervene, has garnered over 120,000 signatures and continues to garner more each day. Please join me as a cosponsor of this very important resolution which will correct a grave injustice, and bring one of our honored marines home. |
