Subject: Co-Sponsorship Request: Resolution declaring sports a unifying force in society
 
In the near future, I plan to introduce a resolution declaring sports a unifying force among people in society.

Sports and sporting events can bring people together from all races, creeds and colors as witnessed by major international competitions such as the Soccer World Cup and the Olympic Games. In Pennsylvania, sports are a universal language that unites people (from urban to suburban) and breaks down barriers whether they are ethnic, religious, economic or social.

In communities here at home and abroad riddled with social ills, sports become an escape and an avenue to propel young people towards positive growth and actions.

Please join me in supporting this resolution as we honor great Pennsylvanians and sporting events such as Billie Jean King, Joe Frazier, Jim Furyk, and the Philadelphia Flyers v. USSR.
