Subject: | Noise Reduction Week and Noise Awareness Day in Pennsylvania |
In the near future, I plan on introducing a resolution recognizing April 28 through May 4, 2014, as "Noise Reduction Week" in Pennsylvania and April 30, 2014, as "Noise Awareness Day" in Pennsylvania. The Center for Hearing and Communication established "International Noise Awareness Day" to promote awareness of the dangers of long-term exposure to noise. In 2014, the Center will celebrate the 19th anniversary of “International Noise Awareness Day.” Noise serves as one of the leading causes of hearing loss for the 28 million people with impaired hearing in the United States. In addition, studies suggest that prolonged exposure to noise can result in psychological changes in sleep, blood pressure, and digestion. Other health statistics indicate that the incidence of hearing loss is occurring at increasingly younger ages. Please consider joining me in raising awareness to the dangers of long-term exposure to noise by recognizing April 28 through May 4, 2014, as "Noise Reduction Week" in Pennsylvania and April 30, 2014, as "Noise Awareness Day" in Pennsylvania. |
