Subject: | PGC Study_First day of Hunting |
In the near future I will introduce a resolution urging the PA Game Commission (PGC) to explore the possibility of opening day of the regular antlered deer season to the Saturday directly following Thanksgiving Day. Currently of course the PGC has the statutory authority to make such decisions, and the first day of the regular antlered deer season traditionally begins on the first Monday directly following Thanksgiving Day. For many hunters, taking a day off of work on a weekday can create additional financial burden during hard economic times. Therefore, changing the opening day to a Saturday could provide all hunters with a greater opportunity to partake in of one of Pennsylvania’s oldest sporting traditions. I believe the PGC should at least explore this possibility for the benefit of both hunters and our economy. I would appreciate your consideration and co-sponsorship of this resolution. Thank you. |
