Subject: | Bucktail Regiment Memorial Bridge Naming Legislation |
In the near future, I will be introducing legislation to name the Route 6 Bridge in Smethport, McKean County the “Bucktail Regiment Memorial Bridge”. The 42nd Pennsylvania Infantry Regiment, also known as “The Bucktails” served with “high distinction” in most of the major engagements of the Army of the Potomac during the Civil War. Many of these men were recruits from the Northern Tier Counties of Pennsylvania and adopted the tail of the Whitetail Buck, which they placed on their caps, as their “Regiment Badge of Honor and became known as the Bucktails. Please join me in cosponsoring this legislation to honor and memorialize these Civil War heroes. |
Introduced as HB1929
