Subject: | Business and Education Partnership |
When schools and industry partner our students and our communities can thrive. Join me in paving the way for these partnerships by cosponsoring this legislation. Today pursuing a career in modern manufacturing can provide students with an excellent path to a family-sustaining job. However misconceptions about those careers persist. Rather than deteriorating factories with assembly-line production styles, modern manufacturing increasingly relies on high-tech processes to create custom products, requiring a highly skilled workforce. This legislation will help to address these misconceptions. Teachers, guidance counselors, and principals hold a strong influence on the career choices of their students. This legislation provides educators with opportunities to gain a real knowledge of modern manufacturing, so they can better guide and assist students who are in the process of making their career choices. This legislation allows educators an opportunity to receive credit toward their continuing professional development requirements by attending a school board-approved site visits to manufacturing locations for orientation and industry demonstrations. Please join me as a co-sponsor of this legislation in an effort to better coordinate our business and education communities. |
