Subject: | Resolution Honoring the 50th Anniversary of Christ the King Parish |
In the near future, I plan to introduce a resolution honoring the 50th anniversary of Christ the King Parish in Philadelphia. The parish officially began on June 18, 1963, with Reverend Arthur Woods as the founding pastor, and serves the parish neighborhoods of Morrell Park and East Torresdale. In May of 1966, the Church and School were dedicated and the school opened the following fall, staffed by Sisters of St. Joseph and lay faculty. Christ the King Parish currently serves 1,850 families, 5,500 parishioners, and 350 school children in pre-school to 8th grade classes, and there are many parish organizations and ministries. Please join me in co-sponsoring this resolution to honor Christ the King Parish for their distinguished legacy of 50 years of service. |
