Subject: Distill Spirits for Own Consumption
 
I plan to introduce legislation in the near future to amend the Liquor Code to allow residents of the Commonwealth to distill spirits for their own consumption and not for sale.

Pennsylvania currently allows residents to homebrew beer and to ferment wine for their own consumption. They may not sell these products. This legislation will allow Pennsylvania residents to distill spirits for their own consumption as home brewers and winemakers now do.

Last session we approved small craft distilleries that mirror brew pubs and limited wineries. This legislation will simply make the home and hobby production of spirits mirror the laws for the home and hobby production of beer and wine.
