Session of 2013 - 2014 Regular Session

MEMORANDUM

Posted: April 17, 2013 11:22 AM
From: Representative Bernie O'Neill
To: All House members
Subject: Compliance Checks in State Stores

I plan to introduce legislation in the near future to amend the Liquor Code. This legislation will change the way the Liquor Code is enforced in our State Stores.

My legislation will allow the Pennsylvania State Police Bureau of Liquor Control Enforcement (BLCE) to do compliance checks in State Stores. Currently, BLCE is not authorized to go into State Stores to determine whether or not the employees are selling to minors. I firmly believe that the PLCB should not be charged with policing themselves when it comes to sales to minors. All liquor licensees are subject to these compliance checks and my legislation will subject the State Stores to the same standards.

Please feel free to contact Connie McClure at 705-7170 if you have any questions or concerns. Thank you in advance for your consideration and support.

Introduced as HB1521
