Subject: | Legislation Amending the Fireworks Law |
In the near future I will be introducing legislation amending the Fireworks Law, revising the section which provides for the application for licenses to sell consumer fireworks. I have been working closely with my local tourist promotion agency in Butler County to bring a national pyrotechnic convention to Pennsylvania this summer. Because current law requires an annual license for those involved in the sale of consumer fireworks, it will be necessary for the tourist promotion agency in my district to pay the $5,000 fee associated with the license. I do not believe that this fee was intended for the type of temporary event that is being planned in my district. Therefore, my proposed legislation modifies the licensing requirement by eliminating the $5,000 fee but not the licensing requirement for this specific type of event, when hosted by a tourist promotion agency in a county of the fourth class. |
Introduced as HB1145
