Subject: | Rep. Kampf: Modernization of Corporate filings |
I seek your co-sponsorship for legislation I plan to re-introduce shortly to modernize a couple of aspects of our Business and Nonprofit Corporation laws. Specifically, this legislation will allow actual corporate filings to be done online, make available an expedited filing option, provide the Bureau’s name change and clarify the nature of certain fees. These changes update existing laws. In today's fast-paced, on-line dependent environment, where so much can be done via the web, state government needs to come up to speed. This bill will allow the Pennsylvania Department of State to react positively to the changing needs of the business community by offering these new, enhanced features in its service portfolio. My legislation will allow the Department of State, for an additional fee paid by the filer, to process expedited filings within 24 hours. Many businesses offer tiered fees for tiered service levels and state government should do the same. Where there are costs associated with the expedited filing, it will be borne entirely by the filer. This legislation is similar to legislation I proposed last session (HB 2297) and carried these names as co-sponsors: KAMPF, BLOOM, BOYD, CUTLER, DAVIS, GINGRICH, GROVE, HARPER, HARRIS, HICKERNELL, KAUFFMAN, F. KELLER, KILLION, LAWRENCE, MALONEY, METZGAR, MILLARD, MILLER, MILNE, MURT, PICKETT, RAPP, ROCK, ROSS, SCHRODER, STEPHENS, TRUITT AND VULAKOVICH Please join me in sponsoring this sensible legislation that moves state government forward by responding to the needs of the business and nonprofit communities. If you would like a copy of the draft, let me know. Thank you for your consideration of this matter. |
Introduced as HB992
