MEMORANDUM

Posted: February 20, 2013 02:03 PM
From: Representative Mark M. Gillen
To: All House members
Subject: Audio Recording on School Buses

In the near future I will be introducing legislation to allow school buses to use audio recording devices.

This legislation would allow school districts to make a policy allowing the use of audio recording devices, and would also require school districts to notify the parents and post a visible sign in the bus that there is audio recording taking place. The courts have already ruled that with such notifications, audio recording is permissible. This would further clarify the issue specifically for school buses.

Please join me in giving school districts another way of protecting our students.
