Ware, Jr, and Clara Edwards Ware; Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania; B.S., 1930; engaged  varied business pursuits, including running a candy factory, cabinet plant, movie theater; founded, president, Penn Fuel Gas Company, Oxford, Pennsylvania, 1944-1989; Chief Executive Officer, American Waterworks Company, 1961-1984 Voorhees, New Jersey; burgess, borough of Oxford, Chester County, Pennsylvania, 1956-1960; elected, Republican, Pennsylvania Senate, 1961-1970; elected, Republican, United States House of Representatives, Pennsylvania 9th congressional district, 1970-1973; elected, Republican, United States House of Representatives Pennsylvania 5th congressional district, 1973-1975 not a candidate for reelection, 1974; married, Marian Snyder Ware, 1940, sons Paul W. Won the on the same day the special election to complete the term of deceased Congressman G. Robert Watkins, regular election for a full term.

Elected, Republican, United States House of Representatives, Ninety-third Congress, Pennsylvania 5th congressional district, 1973-1975, not a candidate for reelection, 1974.  

Legacy: 

The middle college house, Quadrangle Dormitories, University of Pennsylvania, named in his honor. 

A Boy Scout and Cub Scout camp is also named in his honor. Part of the Horseshoe Scout Reservation, Camp John H. Ware III hosts many programs for scouting such as summer camps, NYLT, and camporees. ]

Ware family established, John H. Ware 3rd Endowed Professorship in Alzheimer's Research, University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine, in his honor, 1999. 

U.S. Route 1 freeway, between the Maryland border and Kennett Square, Chester County, designated, John H. Ware III Memorial Highway, May 31, 2002.
