McILVAINE SMITH, Barbara, a Representative from Chester County; born, April 23, 1950 in West Chester, Chester County, Pa.; graduated, West Chester Henderson High School, 1968; B.S., elementary education, West Chester University of Pennsylvania, 1995; vice president and owner, Brandywine Water Systems, Inc.; elected, council, West Chester (2002-2005); administrator, North American Land Trust; teacher, West Chester Area School District; teacher, Brandywine Valley Association; unsuccessful campaign, Pennsylvania House of Representatives (2004); elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 2007 and 2009 terms; unsuccessful campaign for reelection to the House for the 2011 term; appointed, board member, Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education (PASSHE) (2016-present).
