The amendment makes three changes. First, it removes changes the options for the self-exclusion list to periods of 1 year, 3 years or 5 years – removing the lifetime option. Second, the amendment removes the requirement for the PA State Police to provide for the safekeeping of surrendered firearms. Finally, the amendment provides that a person will be removed from the list automatically upon the expiration of the time period for which they sign up. Prior to expiration, the PA State Police are to send notice to the person including instruction on how to voluntarily renew their inclusion on the self-exclusion list.
