House Committee Roll Call Votes

Committee JUDICIARY Date June 28, 2017
Bill/Resolution HB1216 PN1444 A02306 Type of Motion Adopt Amendment
Maker of Motion Rep. Petrarca Seconded by Rep. Costa
Brief Description This amendment moves the immunity provision from the recently repealed animal cruelty law to Title 42, and removes provisions that incorporated the now-obsolete law. The amendment also adds a limitation that the immunity does not apply where the person’s actions constitute gross negligence, recklessness, or willful or wanton misconduct, like in HB 1152. The amendment makes other minor changes to the language to make it more consistent with HB 1152. Finally, the amendment applies to all animals, rather than just dogs and cats.
