A RESOLUTION
Recognizing the month of February 2018 as "Career and Technical
Education Month" in Pennsylvania.
WHEREAS, The observance of "Career and Technical Education
Month" serves to increase public understanding and appreciation
of the value of career and technical education; and
WHEREAS, Career and technical education must serve the needs
of business and industry by delivering programs which meet
national skill standards and offer recognized credentials; and
WHEREAS, This year's theme, "Careers and College: Hands on
Education," represents Pennsylvania's area career and technical
schools, comprehensive high schools and postsecondary
institutions where teachers work to provide the academic and
occupational-technical skills that prepare our students for the
emerging workforce; and
WHEREAS, The Pennsylvania Association of Career and Technical
Administrators strives to promote excellence in career and

technical education through leadership, advocacy and service;
and
WHEREAS, All residents have the right to quality, affordable
and accessible career and technical education in Pennsylvania;
and
WHEREAS, Career and technical education in this Commonwealth
provides students with meaningful opportunities to remain
competitive in an ever-changing global economy and also provides
a reliable pathway to a stable income, thereby expanding the
Commonwealth's middle class; therefore be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate recognize the month of February
2018 as "Career and Technical Education Month" in Pennsylvania.
